Young Adult Virtual Sunday School
Basic Design 09-19-10
OK brothers and sisters in Christ, here’s the deal. Many of us are continually multitasking, multidestinating, multiobligating, and multicogitating to the point that it may be difficult for us to commit to being in one set place at one set time for one set Sunday School class. The fact remains though that we need to come together for a spiritual boost, for fellowship in the Word, and for some solid basic teaching in how to be better disciples. Together, we all need life solutions that work.
This led me to the idea of using technology to set up a Virtual Sunday School. (VSS)
If we can do this, each of us will commit to text or otherwise transmit some basic information every Sunday morning between 9:45 and 10:45.

Text this info to my twitter account, bit by bit, as you can. My name there is DeusCharitasEst. That is Latin for God is Love with no spaces. My plan is to copy those responses to this blogspot (www.stephen-herring.blogspot.com) which may be helpful for others who are facing the same questions. If this works, we should be able to see our responses collected on the blogspot in real time. This will give us an immediate update on where everyone is and on what they are doing, as well as a way of reaching out for support and encouragement by our fellowship in Christ. We will end with follow-up scripture suggestions to remind ourselves to stay focused on the Word, and then we will share a short prayer. All this at 140 characters per shot! There you go! Sunday School on your cell phone!
If you can make it to church, we will meet in my office to compile and to answer/discuss the questions as they come in. If you can actually be here to participate, that would be fantastic! If not, just touch base with the VSS via twitter. In the future we will be building in some web-conferencing software to allow us to actually link by video with multiple users. Also, we need your suggestions, your guidance, and your help to develop this concept into something that can make a real difference in ministry and in Christian Education.
